See without being seen

ObsidianTM limited signature IR light

Telva’s Obsidian is a military-grade IR illuminator designed for land vehicles and covert operations. Obsidian’s unique technical capabilities decrease your night-time signature and enable unnoticed mobility.

Unlike conventional IR lights, the Obsidian beam has a controlled and limited lighting range. It emits sufficient light to safely operate vehicles under dark conditions, but is undetectable from a distance.

Obsidian creates a virtual illuminated dome, beyond which detection is impossible.

THE PROBLEM

Conventional IR lights, when used to light up the night, are visible for miles around to everyone equipped with NVGs.

THE SOLUTION

The Obsidian IR illuminator offers sufficient light to operate vehicles and equipment in the dark, but cannot be detected from a distance.

Close range

In the dark of a winter night, Obsidian sheds enough light to operate a snowmobile on a frozen lake.

The conventional IR light is clearly visible. Obsidian is undetectable.

From a distance

Obsidian and a conventional rifle-mounted IR light are placed on the frozen lake and aimed at the observer from an equal distance. Both lights are switched ON.

Suitable applications include:

  • Special operations forces
  • Armoured troops
  • Logistics
  • Combat engineering
  • Artillery and GBAD

Close-range lighting with far-ranging applications

Obsidian is an IR light suitable for mounting on various land vehicles, both as a retrofit application and early-stage integration.

The unique illuminator offers adequate lighting for up to 50 metres, with an approximate detection limit of only 300 metres*.

A subtle advantage for covert operations

Obsidian marks a new era for IR illuminators. It functions like any other IR light, but its light is literally undetectable from a distance. This means it can be used for operating a vehicle, establishing a base, laying a bridge, or any other tactical activity that you’d rather conduct without unwanted attention.

device settings, light angle, etc.

Bring on the night

Conventional IR lights are clearly visible to everyone equipped with NVGs for miles around. This poses a serious threat when you need tactical IR lighting for covert operations. The solution to this challenge is the Obsidian IR illuminator.

Obsidian is a vehicle-mounted IR light that features new technology for unparalleled night-time signature management. The unique IR light provides sufficient illumination for operating vehicles in the dark, without being detectable from a distance.

They never saw it coming.
